5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED A BUDDY

06-11-2017

So many things are better with a buddy. We mean think about it. Jay-Z is so much better with Beyoncé. Croissants are nothing without coffee. Toast becomes a breakfast hero only with the addition of avocado. And, as for exercise, well, having a fitness friend makes it that much more fun.

At Rocycle, we love nothing more than hopping on the bike with a mate, which is why our Buddy Challenge starts November 6. Spanning the 30 days of this chilly month, we are challenging all of you to ride 20, 30 or 40 rides in total with a buddy. Don’t be scared – we know you can do it.

If that’s not reason enough to grab your BFF and head into the studio, then read on. We’ve got 5 reasons why pushing your limits with a pal is incredibly beneficial.

  1. #1 NO EXCUSES

When you partner up for exercise, you ensure that there is accountability. When you have a friend waiting for you to clip into your bike at 7:00am, you are far less likely to hit the snooze button. Nobody wants to let a friend down!

  1. #2 INSTEAD OF SWEATING SOLO, SWEAT HARDER.

Now we’re not telling you to compare yourself to those around you, but a little healthy competition never hurt anybody. The competitive instinct will be ignited when you’re riding next to each other, pushing you to be better, faster and stronger.

  1. #3 BETTER TOGETHER

One of the most underrated things about exercise is the social aspect (though we at Rocycle know the importance of riding together!). When you train with someone else, you will never feel alone or embarrassed when testing out new moves. Think of hitting a Ro’ride together as the new happy hour. Without the extra calories!

  1. #4 SHARED #GOALS.

If you voice your goals aloud and share them with your workout buddy, it will help you build resolve and resilience. There’s nothing better than getting those six packs, together.

  1. #5 THE MORE THE MERRIER!

As they say, one is the loneliest number, so why not partner up? In a study done by the University of Southern California, the participants who worked out with friends or family enjoyed the workout far more than those who broke a sweat by themselves.

Sounds pretty good, don’t you think? So, pull out your phone, text your chat group and sign up! We promise you won’t regret it.
