Feel Good with Fést
The beginning of the year is always a time to take store of our lives, get rid of old habits that no longer serve us and focus on being the happiest, healthiest versions of ourselves. With everything going on in the world right now, we’ve decided to make 2021 the year we really dedicate ourselves to feeling good.
Since we’re spending so much time at home thanks to the lockdown and the curfew, we figured it was about time we gave our spaces the attention they deserve. We had a chat with Fést – one of our favourite spots for interiors – about how to Feel Good at home. Here’s what they had to say!
We’re really into making our homes inviting these days. What makes a home feel gezellig?
A home feels gezellig if you put the effort in it to make it your own. Adding personal treasures to your home makes it so it looks as if you just walked out of the setting. One tip: don’t overdo it. If you decorated the room, go in it again and take a few objects away; it will elevate your room.
It’s like getting dressed! Sometimes less is more. How have things changed at home since lockdown? What are the trends?
In the first lockdown, we launched our campaign Optimism is a superpower. Optimism is FEST’s core value, as it helps us see things in a different light. Everyone was at home; we saw this as a challenge. How can you make the best of this time indoors? This pandemic has made our homes and their surroundings more important, and people want them to be a warm nest, a space where they feel at ease.
Absolutely. We really want our spaces to be somewhere we actually want to spend a lot of time. How do you create separate spaces at home for work, relaxing, working out, etc?
a. Make sure you keep your space comfortable and clean so that you won’t be distracted by messy things on the other side of the room.
b. Create a cosy working corner. You can do this with a small desk for example. Try to avoid working from the kitchen table. If you work in the same place where you eat, it becomes more difficult to create a balance between work and free time.
c. Add plants to divide your space into different areas.
Ah, we never thought of using plants to separate our space, but that’s brilliant! What is the one thing at home you couldn’t live without?
Ooh that’s a hard one. I can’t decide between my table and my sofa! Your sofa is always there for you, for reading a book, watching movies, hanging with your friends. On the other hand, who could do without his dining table? For dinners with friends, playing games or practicing your new-found lock-down hobby (puzzling, anyone?)
Do you have any innovative tips to create a sustainable home?
a. Mix vintage with new things.
b. Invest in pieces that last.
c. Go for more timeless big-ticket items, like your sofa and dining table. Add funky home décor to mix things up seasonally.
We love a nice mix of vintage and modern. It keeps things fresh! Alright, last one. Where do you get your inspiration?
Femke (FEST’s founder) gets her inspiration from beautiful things all around her: architecture, art, movies. Fun fact: a lot of our product names are inspired by movies and series.
