Instructor spotlight: TIELA
At Rocycle we’re all about Mind Body Music, but, just as important is the fact that we’re a family. So, to make sure each class is not just a party but a reunion, we’d like to introduce our instructors so you know a little bit more about them than their signature moves on the bike. You might have heard that there’s a new instructor in town, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome Tiela Brown to the family. We got to chat with him today about dipping his toes into the Dutch language, turning positive vibes into positive rides and what Rocycle means to him.
Hi Tiela! We are so happy to have you on board. Can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Tiela, I’m in my mid-twenties and full of life! I’m an energetic guy and would say I’m an extroverted introvert. I am British through and through! A change of fate and heart brought me to this wonderful city across the pond from London.
Keep calm and carry yourself over to Holland? And what about Rocycle? What carried you here?
When in the process of thinking about making the big move, a friend recommended the studio to carry on with the job I adored so much in London. Now, I adore this job in my new studio at Rocycle and have no reservations about joining the Ro’family so I can guarantee love, guidance and care for every person who steps into my class.
We must say we are thrilled you joined forces with us. Inevitably, you spend a lot of time in the studio then, but what do you do with your free time?
At the moment, I am throwing myself into my Dutch language course (I know, good luck with that, right?!) and enjoying every moment of the culture of this beautiful city and people.
And then how about when you’re not killing it on the bike? Do you do other types of exercise?
I like to run when I can; not much of a surprise, but I prefer to run indoors too! I have always been a fan of exceeding my personal best, so on a treadmill, I can excel. I take dance classes when I can, though not often enough. In London, I knew whose class was best, which studio… here I am still learning, as the dance world is so small in comparison.
You will certainly figure it out. Maybe some of the other instructors can give you tips! Speaking of, whose classes do you like to do when not teaching?
I love me some Herns, Rowen, Joey and Babette. No particular order! It really is as and when I’m free, but there seems to be a general theme with these classes.
So we know whose classes you lean toward, but how do you set your own apart?
Not only am I a native English speaker but also take the time to master my playlists. Nothing is experimental in class – only in my mind and personal time. The finished product is what you feel throughout class with me, that infectiousness coming from my naturally open personality. Not everyone has it in them to be that way. When it is you and genuinely you, it’s not forced. I never let anything become an obstacle in my life! I challenge myself and both my pro riders and first timers to remember this throughout class with me.
Love it. Well said. So we’ve finally made it to the last question. What does Rocycle mean to you?
Rocycle is a place where I can be my own individual amidst a group of talented, intelligent individuals, all meshing together to become one harmonious family! It’s more than a fitness concept and boutique feel. It’s building the rapport with each and every person who steps through the studio doors. It’s my creative space that I can share through music, rhythm and my infectious smile.
