Love By Numbers
People always say that love is mysterious, love can’t be quantified. People talk about getting butterflies and feeling sparks. It’s a sweeping, dramatic experience that just can’t be put into words, let alone numbers.
Or is it? Though it may sound fishy, it seems that there are actually a number of scientifically proven signs that you are well and truly in love. So while it may not be perfect or cinematic or the stuff of sappy sonnets, you may be more in love than you think!
Ready to feel the love tonight and always? If you think any of these five sure-fire thoughts, then you are truly, madly, deeply in love.
You’re just too good to be true; I can’t take my eyes off of you. “Love at first sight” may feel like something people just say, but there is scientific research that has shown that prolonged eye contact leads to romantic connections. The research has shown that wanting to gaze into your partner’s eyes forever is indicative of a deep, romantic connection. Maybe staring isn’t rude after all!
You inspire me. Not necessarily to create grand works of sculpture or write epic poetry, but certainly to try new things. Falling in love often encourages us to get out of our comfort zones and try new things! Just think about how many times friends of yours have gotten into new relationships and seemed to become entirely new people. If you or your partner (or hopefully both of you!) are starting to try new things, it’s a great sign that love is brewing.
You make me want to shout it from the rooftops. Or at least whisper it into your ear. I love you! It may seem totally obvious, but there is science behind the desire to say, “I love you.” If you want to say it, you probably mean it, so if you feel the urge, go for it!
You take away my pain. This one is absolutely crazy, but studies have shown that there is a strong connection between being in love and feeling no pain. Even just seeing a photograph of your romantic partner can provide instant pain relief. Naturally, this doesn’t mean that love cures all – though we like to believe it conquers it – but feelings of stress, pain or discomfort can be alleviated by the presence of your partner if you are in love. Feeling good all the time? Then you definitely have all the feels.
You make me want to make you happy. If you are suddenly one of those people who wants to go above and beyond to do whatever it takes to make your partner happy, chances are that you’re likely in the throes of true romance. If you want their needs above yours, then you are engaging in healthy, compassionate love. Keep on lovin’!
So, tell us. Are you in love? When did you know?
