At Rocycle we’re all about Mind Body Music, but, just as important is the fact that we’re a family. So, to make sure each class is not just a party but a reunion, we’d like to introduce some of our Ro’Regulars. Looking for inspiration? Well, look no further than Francesca Bardinelli, living proof that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it. Keep reading to find out about how she cheats on Crossfit with Ro’rides, her undying love for The Almond Butter Cup smoothie and what Rocycle means to her.

Hi Francesca! We are so happy to chat with you today. Can you introduce yourself?

Hey, what’s up. My name is Francesca. I have an Italian name, but I’m American! I’m passionate about living in the internet age and all things digital. I’m always behind the screen, working on nerdy projects. For a living, I work on websites, so my average day is sitting for 8 hours or more. I’ve felt out of shape my whole life. This year, I’m turning 30, and I decided that I am going to get in the best shape of my life. Through a combination of working with an online nutrition coach (shoutout to Coach Maggie with Black Iron Nutrition!) and about 50 Ro’rides so far this year, I’ve lost more than 15 lbs! I still have 5 more months until my 30th in November!

Wow! That is seriously impressive. Can you tell us how you came to ride #1 of the 50 rides?

Rocycle was actually the first place I came the morning after I moved to Amsterdam. I needed to sweat out the jetlag and jump start my new life!

Rocycle on your first day in the city? We love that. So, before you hit the ground spinning on day one, what sort of exercise did you do?

Back in Colorado, I was very into Crossfit and lifting heavy weights (my previous squat max was 130 kg!), but now that I moved to Amsterdam, I’ve been cheating on Crossfit with spinning. I love it!

We can’t blame you there. It is awfully fun here. You mentioned you’re working with a nutrition coach, so you obviously consider it an important part of a healthy lifestyle. How do you fuel yourself?

Nutrition is key! Fuelling myself properly has been the missing piece to my health and fitness progress, which I never fully understood until 2018! I plan out all my meals the day before and make sure to get plenty of protein in – Kodiak Cakes Protein Pancake mix is my secret weapon.

Protein is especially important after a ride. If you don’t go for the protein pancakes, which Cold Pressed juice or smoothie do you like?

My all-time favourite was the March smoothie – The Almond Butter Cup!! It was the best smoothie I’ve ever had in my entire life. Please bring it back!! Lately, I’ve been into the new iced lattes for summer, especially the Charcoal & Black Sesame. It’s a strange grey colour, but it’s sooo good.

Fingers crossed this article brings back The Almond Butter Cup! Alright, last question. What does Rocycle mean to you?

Rocycle is the best part of my day. I love coming in straight from work, sweating out the day of meetings and computer work. I feel like a rockstar every day in the dark with the lights out, dancing it out to amazing songs. I can feel real change in my body and spirit. I’m so lucky to have found such an amazing studio and community to workout with.
