RIDER SPOTLIGHT: Sophie
At Rocycle we’re all about Mind Body Music, but, just as important is the fact that we’re a family. So, to make sure each class is not just a party but a reunion, we’d like to introduce some of our Ro’Regulars. This week we had a nice chat with one of our Ro’regulars over at Zuidas, Sophie, and learned all about her favorite theme rides and how a 7am class gets her ready for the day ahead. Read on to learn more.
Hi Sophie! Thanks so much for chatting with us. Can you introduce yourself?
I’m Sophie, 25 years old and live in Amsterdam South. I work at the Zuidas. I grew up in the very south of the Netherlands and after graduating Maastricht, I got the opportunity to work in Amsterdam. I had already lived in Amsterdam before for short periods of time during internships, and I really liked the energy and dynamics of the city, so this was an easy choice for me. I have lived here for about a year now and have no intention of leaving Amsterdam!
We feel the same. And how did you end up here at Rocycle?
When I was heading to the office, I spotted Rocycle Zuidas being set up, and I was very curious. I did some research, and it looked great! I wanted to try it, so shortly after the opening of the Zuidas studio, I used the first time offer and gave it a go. Now I’m riding multiple times a week!
Now that’s dedication. Were you always so keen on fitness? Before you joined Rocycle, what sort of exercise did you do?
Before Rocycle, I used to run every now and then, mostly because it is the kind of exercise that fits a busy schedule. But for me it was easy to skip, or I wouldn’t give it my best effort. I like that Rocycle is flexible in terms of offered times, but what really works for me is that the concept is about just giving everything you have and pushing limits throughout the whole class.
Our flexibility is very important to us. We love offering classes from sun up to sun down. Speaking of, are you an early bird or a night owl?
I guess Rocycle has turned me into an early bird! I often take the 7am class, after which I’m feeling energized and ready for the day ahead.
We adore how motivated our riders are! Do you think music is an important motivator for exercise?
The music is one of the best things about Rocycle. I really enjoy the Theme Rides. It was actually during one of Jeff’s Beyoncé vs. Jay-Z classes when I ‘graduated’ to the front row! The music always perfectly fits the moves, it is varied and just fun! And it really is true that the workout is easier when you stick to the beat.
Exactly. It’s mind, body, music. So, finally, what does Rocycle mean to you?
Pushing limits and simply feeling good.
