The face behind the mat: Anna

That’s why we are so excited to finally bring you Royoga: sweat-drippin’ yoga that will have you feeling energised and on top of the world after every class. We’ve got Royoga, Roslow and Rostretch, so whatever your mood, there’s a flow for you.

Because community is the heart of what we do, we want you to really get to know our instructors so they start to feel like family. That’s why today, we want to introduce you to one of our amazing Royoga teacher, Anna. We chatted with her to find out a bit more about her and what Rocycle means to her.

Hi Anna! We can’t even begin to tell you how excited we are to finally get in some Royoga. It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this moment, and we’re thrilled to have you on board as our first Royoga teacher. Can you introduce yourself?

Hello! My name is Anna. I am Polish, but I have lived abroad for almost 10 years. Like many yoga teachers, I turned my passion for yoga into a full-time job. I love to share my yoga practice and energy with my students. I am the Royoga master instructor, and I cannot wait to meet you on the mat.

We’re counting down the minutes until we can flow with you. So you’re obviously the Royoga master instructor, but how did you find your way to Rocycle in the first place?

I feel like I was part of the family right from the beginning. Long story short, I was one of the lucky ones who auditioned in Rogier’s kitchen to become a Rocycle instructor. I didn’t make it to the stage but fell in love with the bike. I’ve done over 300 rides since the studio first opened.

Wow you’re a real die-hard. Impressive! Have you always been into yoga?

I have always been very active and into sports, even when I was very young. I played handball for over 10 years, with two years at a professional level. I was introduced to yoga in 2011 when I moved to Michigan in the U.S. I fell in love with hot vinyasa yoga: the feeling, the sweat, the music. Amazing!

There’s nothing better, really. Do you have any favourite poses?

My always and forever favourite pose is pigeon pose. I love all the poses that involve hip-opening and stretching. Sooo lekker!

Totally lekker! There are obviously a lot of other studios around, but we think Royoga is really special. What do you think sets it apart?

Royoga is a mind, body and music experience. It is not just a strong practice; it also involves lots of inspiration and motivation. Royoga is a community of like-minded people coming to share the sweaty practice. In a nutshell, Royoga is Rocycle on a yoga mat.

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Upward dog or downward dog?

Downward dog ☺.

And do you have a style of yoga you love most? Yin? Hatha? Vinyasa?

I am definitely a vinyasa girl! I love to move fast, get my heart rate up and feel the sweat.

Then you’ll be right at home at Royoga! Do you have any suggestions for people who want to incorporate yoga or mindfulness practices into their lives?

I always encourage my students to take time for themselves. Self-care and kindness first. You are a better person if you care for yourself. No matter what, always be kind! Yoga practice doesn’t end on the yoga mat. It actually starts when you walk out of the studio. On your way to work, during meetings, stressful moments and at home with your children. 3…2..1… breathe…

We feel more relaxed already. What do you like to wear when you practice?

Lululemon for life, and not just for yoga.

Comfortable but still sort of stylish. Now what about Rocycle? Do you enjoy that as well?

Yes! I ride twice a week and love it!

Tell us something most people don’t know about you.

I am a very good cook. When I was little, I used to spend a lot of time in the kitchen with my grandma, cooking traditional Polish food and pies. Nowadays, I love to entertain and serve my friends healthier versions of Polish food, as it can be quite heavy.

Can we get an invite?! Ok, we just have one last question. What does Rocycle mean to you?

Community. Party on a bike. Friends. Love.
